The dot SE country-specific extension was created in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration procedure was really restrictive, so a very low number of domains were grabbed. Individuals were allowed to buy solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a prerequisite, i.e. only Swedish persons, commercial entities and organizations could buy a .SE domain.
